Coming out of Ubisoft Montreal, we will see something very different and new to the Assassins Creed franchise. Follow along for all of our current knowledge on the game and what we can expect from the AC franchise.

According to Marc-Alexis Côte, this will be a “very different” upcoming flagship Assassin’s Creed title. This could really mean just about anything as we have seen some increase in the storytelling and gameplay over the recent years.

Yara Tabbara of Ubisoft Montreal has confirmed there will be a feature of “strong feminine energy”. Much like we got to experience in Odyssey and Syndicate, this will possibly focus on just a female protagonist, which in itself is exciting.

Written by franchise veteran Narrative Director Darby McDevitt, who‘s behind some of the best written games in the franchise.

Developed by Ubisoft Montréal, the franchise’s main studio since 2007, which means the studio is taking a big part of the work on making this game one of its best.

Yara has also indicated HEXE is going to be designed to “leave a lasting mark on the franchise”.

One of the first two games to launch on the Assassin’s Creed Infinity platform (the other being Codename Red).

Launching sometime after Mirage (Baghdad) and Codename Red (Japan). Both of which we’re looking forward to seeing and having some hands on time with.

Themes revolve around witchcraft, based on the name “HEXE” (meaning witch in German, derived from Old German “Hagazussa”), the imagery shown in the teaser and the pentagram in the official logo/key art.

Rumors have this set in Central Europe, in the 16th century, focusing on the pivotal point in history revolving around the mass hysteria about witchcraft that gripped the continent, leading to witch trials where 80,000 people were executed, according to Bloomberg and @InsiderGamingIG.

Our personal speculations have this game set with an alchemy and magic vibe, however as we know the assassins had access to ancient technology and the anima, so there’s possibly a tie in to their technology.

Judging by Yara Tabbara’s statement, the game will likely feature the series’ first solo female protagonist in a mainline game, which we’re a huge fan of.
