Wield a flame-belching Fire Pipe, soar above the rooftops, and impact how the story unfolds starting March 22.
Team Ninja is creating an exciting open world full of intense combat and a deep narrative for Rise of the Ronin.
Fighting like a Ronin
You are skilled in using a variety of weapons to defeat your opponents. Your expertise includes ranged weapons such as foreign handguns and Japanese spears, as well as Team Ninja’s distinctive swordplay.
There are different options available for using hybrid Japanese-Western weaponry in war. You can use the Fire Pipe, which looks like a flamethrower, to burn groups of enemies and light combustible barrels. Additionally, you can use the bayonet to block rifle attacks and deflect knives. In order to gain the advantage in combat, it’s important to choose your fighting style carefully and understand your opponents’ weapons.
Team Ninja fans know that timing is everything in melee fighting. The latest teaser shows a furious swordsman duel where winning depends on timing parries, blocking, and stance choice. Additionally, you can use a flexible grappling rope to sneak up on an unsuspecting guard or draw faraway opponents into combat. To narrow the distance and fling themselves towards enemies, players can also use the rope.
Get ready to employ every weapon at your disposal to defeat the terrifying foes that await our doomed Ronin.
Traversing Japan
When covering ground in late 19th-century Japan, there are several options. When engaging in outdoor warfare, your grappling rope can be used to quickly acquire leverage by helping you ascend rooftops and other heights. You can also get to mission objectives more quickly by galloping across wide fields while mounted on a reliable horse.
One of the traversal alternatives that Team Ninja is most enthusiastic about is the clever Avicula. This technical marvel enables you to quickly extend a pair of lightweight wings that are ideal for soaring through the skies. To soar in the air, players can grapple to a great height, dash across roofs, and unleash their glider in midair. You can change your course, accelerate, close your wings, and get a stealthy drop on your enemies.
Player choice
Players in Rise of the Ronin can alter the world through their decisions made during story missions, in addition to their choices regarding fighting and movement techniques.
The latest trailer shows the player having the option to assist Igashichi, a character, in fending off a posse of unfriendly guards. Players can learn more about Igashichi and develop a stronger bond with him by making this decision, which also unlocks additional game elements. These decisions will be up to you to make with other characters, such as Ryoma Sakamoto who was featured in an earlier teaser.
Your relationships with characters affect the story’s direction. Prioritize bonding with one over another for added diversity in future iterations.
