Pokémon Live-Action Series Coming to Japan
A new Pokémon live-action drama series is coming to Japan on October 19, 2023. “Pack Your Pocket With Adventure” (also known as “PokéTsume”), follows Madoka Akagi, a young woman who starts working for an advertising agency but starts to dislike her job. She then receives a package from her mother containing some of her old stuff, including a Game Boy and a copy of Pokémon Red.
Madoka hasn’t played Pokémon since she was very young, so going back is pretty nostalgic for her. The series will frame a lot of key moments and relationships through her playing Pokémon Red, such as one scene where she’s shown entering a battle with a character made to look like her boss.
The series is not set in the Pokémon universe, but rather in the real world. It is about how Madoka uses Pokémon to find adventure in her life. The series is expected to be have a lighthearted and comedic drama like more Pokémon shows.
Other Pokémon TV Projects
In addition to the new live-action drama series, The Pokémon Company is also working on a new anime series starring Liko and Roy, as well as a stop-motion series called Pokémon Concierge. The series will follow Haru young woman who is working at a resort with her partner Psyduck.
The Pokémon Company is clearly going all in on making new TV content! It’s exciting to see the variety of shows that they are starting to release. Hopefully, these new shows will appeal to a wide range of Pokémon fans.
